Look, I know the Supernatural is not supposed to happen but it does happen.

No points for guessing. More pix soon.

Rawr! The Gila Monsta has arrived.

Yes, as I’m sure none of you have noticed I’ve been a wee bit scarse pretty much everywhere for the past couple of weeks, but honestly Mr.Goodbike, I have a note from my Mom and very good reason…….

I’m a Daddy! :D

Yep, the guy who won second place in a recent “I hate babies” competition just had a little baby boy. Well, I didn’t personally have him - my wife did - but you know what I mean.

Being that this is a bike site and statistics are very important, here they are :

gilby-day4-02sml.jpg

Name - Gilby “Gila Monsta” Gresswell

Born - 9:45pm, Thursday, July 19

Birth Stats - 4.1kgs / 9lbs, 54cm

Palmares - Future win of Tour de France unlikely. Has already outgrown his one-piece ‘go-fast’ suits.

So, what can you say about the whole ‘having a kid’ experience? Well, keeping it in context, the whole labour thing makes endurance bike racing look like a trip to the milk bar. 19hrs of panting, grunting, and the gnashing of teeth - especially when self-inflicted by someone you love - is probably one of the most intense experiences you can witness, and the growth in awe and love you experience for your partner is off the charts. It’s an amazing seeing the power of nature in all her visceral glory.

The couple of women in our Ante-Natal class who’s idea of a perfect Calvin Klein and Evian sponsored clinical birth are in for rather a rude shock.

Anyway, I don’t want to write a diatribe on the experiences of a new father, except to say that it is crazy insane, I love it about 1000 times more than I thought it would, and that my spawn is 10000 times better and more talented than anyone elses. I’m sure he’ll be walking and reciting Joyce sometime next week.

In terms of Thylacine, for all those waiting for frames, things are suprisingly still on track with no delays, despite the fact that I’m running on about 4hrs sleep a day. Of course little Gil is only a week old, so I won’t say there won’t be any delays especially from the design department (me), but construction-wise we’re still looking daisy-fresh which is more then I can say for myself.

Quick news

  • Due to a restructure and reconfig in our preferred Tier One builders, we can now turn around painted frames in 5-6 weeks from sign-off.
  • Powdercoated frames are still 8 weeks because of the long leadtimes from our preferred supplier.
  • We have also recently added Carbon Fiber to our Tier One lineup, so in the upcoming months we will be able to offer up carbon and carbon-based composite frame design and construction in almost any configuration you can think of. A prime example of this will be the new Tephra CTi which is due for official release in the upcoming weeks.
